These concrete pieces are three to five inches thick and are laid dead flat on sand for pedestrian walks. We used pieces with a tooled, radius, edge for the flush side and left the other side ragged. The ragged edge side has a small footing to secure it. Decomposed granite is swept into the joints.
Cost is $10 - $15 per square foot.
Driveways require a mortar bed over a concrete sub slab and should be sloped to drain.
We salvaged this material from a demolished adobe block retaining wall pictured to the far right.
The broken pieces are puzzled together on a mortar bed over a three inch concrete sub-slab. It’s a relatively soft material so you have to be on board for damage and wear.
